"Secrets of the Southern Sky"

from 14 years
duration: 45 minutes

At Cerro Paranal, in the north of the Chilean Andes, we find the most modern astronomical observatory in the world, the Very Large Telescope of the European Southern Observatory ESO. There we start our journey to the southern sky. Here astronomers find best conditions to study mysterious objects such as star clusters, nebulae, red giants, white dwarf and supernovae. With modern technology they head for the most distant galaxies and explore the lifecycle of stars.
